I like that
Soca Song Review:
I like That
Performed by GBM Nutron. Produced by GBM Productions and Yung Seeche Productions
This is one of the best-produced tracks I’ve listened to in a while, across any genre. I played it loud, listened to it at a whisper, and moved back and forth through different segments. There are so many layers to the music, so deftly blended that you might miss the blending itself. Musically, it’s filled with those ‘when did that happen?’ moments. Well done.
In terms of lyrics, playability, and vibe, this brother GBM Nutron has a voice as smooth as the notes of the saxophone (which I’ll touch on in a bit). It’s the perfect track for transitioning from a sweaty power Soca session when the fete needs a breather, or when your partner needs to take a moment and wonder about your name. The track is smoking hot, but the saxophone… why does it feel like the sax player is treated like a cousin begging for 6 seconds of attention? My only complaint is that it would have been nice to hear more of the saxophone while the artist’s voice was highlighted.
This is a tune I could definitely get behind.
